Justice Nnamdi Dimgba of the Federal High Court in Awka, Anambra State, has sentenced 27 internet fraudsters to jail following their conviction for fraudulent impersonation and obtaining by false pretense. The convictions were secured by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) after the fraudsters pleaded guilty to one-count separate charges.
The convictions were announced by the EFCC's Enugu Zonal Command in a post on Thursday, March 7, on their official handle. The 27 convicted individuals include Ajaero Chidiebube, Kosisochukwu Wisdom Ugwu, Apeh Samuel, Hyacinth Henry, and others. They were sentenced by Justice Dimgba after pleading guilty to the charges.
The EFCC's post detailed that the convicted fraudsters were sentenced on Tuesday, March 5, 2024, by Justice Dimgba. The charges against them included fraudulent impersonation and obtaining by false pretense. The individuals were identified as part of a larger crackdown on internet fraud in the region.
