Over 28 of the 200+ schoolchildren abducted in Kaduna last week have escaped, as the military intensifies efforts to rescue the remaining hostages. Vice President Kashim Shettima visited Kaduna to assess the situation and met with the parents of the abductees.
Meanwhile, Information and National Orientation Minister Mohammed Idris assured that the government is determined to degrade the capacity of criminals to launch such attacks. However, another 15 students were abducted by an armed gang in Gidan Bakuso village, Sokoto State.
Kaduna State Governor Uba Sani confirmed the escape of the 28 students and reiterated the government's commitment to rescuing all abducted children. President Bola Tinubu has instructed security agencies to spare no effort in the rescue operation, and urged the media to report responsibly on the incident.
