The Nigerian Association of Nephrology (NAN) has announced that its 37th Scientific Conference and Annual General Meeting will take place in Abuja from February 19-21, 2025, with the theme:
“Revolutionizing Kidney Care in Nigeria: Evidence-Based Innovations.”
The Chairman of the Local Organizing Committee (LOC), Dr. Olatise, disclosed this during a press briefing, highlighting the association’s efforts to advance kidney healthcare in the country.
Vice President Shettima to Receive Kidney Champion Award
- Vice President Kashim Shettima will be honored with the Kidney Champion Award in recognition of his advocacy and direct support for kidney patients.
- The award acknowledges his role in:
- Funding immunosuppressants for transplant patients.
- Providing post-transplant care for kidney recipients.
- Proposing the establishment of a specialized laboratory for monitoring calcineurin inhibitor (CNI) levels in kidney patients.
Dr. Olatise stated:
“We have noticed the role the Vice President is playing in looking after kidney patients in the country. He has been involved in purchasing immunosuppressants, providing post-transplant care, and considering setting up a lab for better monitoring. This award is a recognition of his commitment.”
