U.S. President Donald Trump has confirmed that Israel has agreed to the key conditions for a proposed 60-day ceasefire in the ongoing Gaza war, placing the onus on Hamas to accept the deal and halt hostilities.
In a statement posted Tuesday on his platform, Truth Social, Trump said the United States will work closely with all parties throughout the two-month truce period to bring an end to the conflict. He added that Qatar and Egypt—both pivotal mediators in past negotiations—will deliver the ceasefire proposal to Hamas leadership.
“I hope, for the good of the Middle East, that Hamas takes this Deal, because it will not get better – IT WILL ONLY GET WORSE,” Trump stated in a bold message that echoed both urgency and finality.
He also revealed that U.S. representatives held a “long and productive meeting” with Israeli officials earlier on Tuesday to hash out the agreement details, though the Israeli government has not yet released an official response.
The announcement comes just days before Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu is expected to visit Washington, with the Gaza war topping the agenda. Trump reiterated his belief that a formal agreement could be finalized during or shortly after Netanyahu’s visit.
The Biden administration had previously worked on similar proposals with limited success, but Trump’s re-engagement in Middle East diplomacy has introduced a renewed sense of momentum to the stalled ceasefire efforts.
