The Ogun State Government has formally announced the burial arrangements for the late Awujale of Ijebuland, Oba Sikiru Kayode Adetona, who passed away on Sunday, July 13, 2025, at the age of 91.
In an official statement issued by the Secretary to the State Government, Mr. Tokunbo Talabi, the monarch’s burial has been scheduled for 4:00 p.m. on a date yet to be publicly disclosed.
The state government called on all residents to keep the royal family in their prayers, noting the deep impact of Oba Adetona’s passing on the Ijebu people and the entire state.
Oba Adetona, one of Nigeria’s longest-reigning traditional rulers, was revered for his wisdom, leadership, and legacy of peace and development in Ijebuland.
