The Ondo State Police Command has confirmed the death of a murder suspect, Femi Oladele, popularly known as Tallex, who was allegedly involved in the abduction and murder of two students from Adekunle Ajasin University, Akungba-Akoko.

Oladele, who was reportedly the landlord of one of the victims, died on Friday following a brief illness while in police custody.

The two deceased students — Andrel Okah from the Department of History and International Studies, and John Abba from the Department of Economics — were both 200-level students and close friends. Their disappearance sparked alarm on campus after they were declared missing for over three weeks.

Following a report made by concerned students, police launched an investigation that led to the arrest of Oladele and two other suspects. According to police sources, one of the suspects confessed during interrogation that the two students had been murdered and their bodies dumped in separate locations in Ekiti State.

The police confirmed the recovery of Okah’s decomposing body, which has been deposited at a morgue, while efforts to locate Abba’s remains are still ongoing.

A source revealed that Oladele fell ill while in custody and was promptly taken to a hospital by the police, where he eventually died.

Confirming the development, the state Police Public Relations Officer, SP Olayinka Ayanlade, said Oladele had been under medical care since his arrest.

“He had been in and out of the hospital under medical supervision since his arrest. Sadly, he passed away in the early hours of Friday,” Ayanlade stated.

She also reaffirmed the command’s commitment to justice, urging the public not to believe any false narratives surrounding the suspect’s death.

“The Ondo State Police Command is fully committed to ensuring that everyone involved in this horrific crime is brought to justice,” she added.
