Troops of the North East Joint Task Force, Operation Hadin Kai (OPHK), have neutralised at least 17 Boko Haram and ISWAP terrorists and safely detonated over 14 improvised explosive devices (IEDs) in a series of coordinated operations across Borno and Adamawa States.
The intensified clearance operations, carried out between July 23 and August 2, were supported by air assets and the Civilian Joint Task Force (CJTF), according to a statement on Monday by Captain Reuben Kovangiya, Acting Director of Army Public Relations for OPHK.
The operations were conducted in Bama, Konduga, Gwoza, Magumeri, and Biu LGAs of Borno State, extending into Michika LGA of Adamawa State.
“The fighting patrols, ambushes, and logistics denial operations led to the recovery of several AK-47 rifles, a PKT machine gun, rifle magazines, and a cache of 7.62mm ammunition,” Kovangiya stated.
Troops also recovered significant logistics including 2,300 litres of diesel (AGO), 1,000 litres of petrol (PMS), generators, solar panels, motorcycles, and food items such as bags of rice, used to support terrorist camps.
Over 987 internally displaced persons (IDPs) were safely resettled to Mandaragrau in Biu LGA, in line with the Borno State Government’s resettlement plan, the statement noted.
Kovangiya added that joint operations were also carried out with Nigerien forces along the Diffa–Duji–Damasak corridor, enhancing regional security coordination.
The army reiterated its commitment to denying terrorists freedom of movement and restoring peace in the North-East to support socio-economic activities in the region.
