Olamide Calls Wizkid, Davido, Burna Boy “Troublesome Friends” but Celebrates Strong Bond

Nigerian rap icon Olamide Adedeji, popularly known as Baddo, has described fellow Afrobeats stars Wizkid, Davido, and Burna Boy as his “troublesome friends,” stressing that their friendship remains intact despite occasional disagreements.

Speaking on the Afrobeats Podcast with Adesope Olajide, which premiered Monday on YouTube, Olamide gave fans rare insight into his relationship with the “big four” of Nigerian music.

“Wizkid, Davido, and Burna Boy are all my friends; they are just too troublesome,” he joked in Yoruba. “They are cool dudes. Sometimes we don’t align on so many things, and that’s fine.”

Unplanned Collaboration With Wizkid

Olamide also shared the story behind his recent collaboration with Wizkid on Kia. He revealed that while shooting the video, he played Wizkid a few unreleased tracks, including Leonidas Club, which had been recorded just a day earlier.

Wizkid instantly connected with the song and asked to be part of it.

“He was like, ‘Na this one you for give me.’ I didn’t think he would like it, but he loved it straight away,” Olamide recalled.

The track, released in August, quickly became another highlight of Olamide’s long catalogue.

Gratitude and Longevity

The YBNL boss praised Wizkid for his support:

“I’m grateful to God for Wiz and for his endless love. That’s a solid dude right there.”

With a career spanning over a decade, Olamide has released more than 10 projects, toured globally, and collaborated with international stars, including a recent record with U.S. rap legend Dr Dre.

Executive Role in Afrobeats

Beyond his own music, Olamide has shaped the Afrobeats scene by discovering and nurturing stars such as Fireboy DML, Lil Kesh, Adekunle Gold, Young Jonn, and Asake.

Reflecting on this role, he said his drive to support young artists came from the struggles of his early years.

“I grew up hoping and praying that I could see some opportunities, and I didn’t get them. So I took it upon myself that if I ever make it big, I’m going to create opportunities for others.”

Faith and Future Goals

Olamide credited his faith for his resilience and success, noting that “nothing extraordinary can happen without the blessings of the Lord and His grace.”

The rap legend is now preparing for another milestone: his OVO Arena headline show in London on November 23, 2025, a performance set to solidify his global influence.
