Rivers Police Nab Suspected Cultists at UniPort Event

The Rivers State Police Command has arrested two suspected cultists, including a serving officer, during a signing-out ceremony at the University of Port Harcourt.

The command’s spokesperson, SP Grace Iringe-Koko, said in a statement on Friday that the suspects — Corporal Onwukwe Godswill of Elimgbu Division and a 200-level Biomedical Technology student, Ifeanyi Israel — were apprehended on September 26 while allegedly preparing for a clash with rival cult groups on campus.

Weapons, including pistols, ammunition, and axes, were recovered from the suspects. A later search of Corporal Onwukwe’s house also uncovered a locally made pistol and two machetes.

Iringe-Koko confirmed that both men are now in custody, with investigations ongoing to trace other accomplices.
