The Nigerian Bar Association (NBA), Kebbi Branch, has advised its members to avoid travelling to nine local government areas in the state that have been identified as kidnapping hotspots.
The directive was issued by the branch chairman, Alhaji Aminu Hassan, in a statement released on Sunday in Birnin Kebbi.
According to him, the affected areas are Bagudo, Suru, Kamba (in Dandi), Bunza, Kangiwa (in Arewa), Dirin Daji (in Sakaba), Ribah, Kanya, and Augie Local Government Areas.
Hassan explained that the decision followed an emergency meeting held on Saturday after the abduction of one of their members, Mr. Isyaku Muhammad-Danjuma, who was kidnapped on Wednesday along the Ibeto–Birnin Kebbi road in Magama Local Government Area of Niger State.
He said the association strongly condemned the abduction and expressed serious concern about the growing insecurity across the country.
As part of their resolution, the branch announced a four-day boycott of court proceedings, from October 7 to October 10, to protest the kidnapping and draw public attention to the worsening security situation.
“After the boycott, members are also advised to suspend handling all terrorism-related cases — including kidnapping, abduction, armed robbery, and unlawful possession of firearms — until further notice,” Hassan stated.
He added that the association would continue to engage with relevant security agencies and government officials to ensure the safe release of their abducted colleague.
The chairman further urged the authorities to take urgent steps to restore peace and public confidence in the state. He also revealed that the branch was working with the judiciary to find alternative venues for court sessions to reduce the need for travel to unsafe areas.
Hassan commended members of the Bar, the judiciary, the media, and the public for their support and called for unity in the collective fight for justice and security.

Meanwhile, the NBA National President, Mazi Afam Osigwe (SAN), also demanded Danjuma’s immediate release, describing the incident as a “painful reminder of the worsening insecurity in Nigeria.”
“Mr. Danjuma is not just a lawyer — he is a husband, father, son, and citizen whose rights to life and liberty are protected under the 1999 Constitution. His abduction is a gross violation of these rights and a sad reflection of the lawlessness that has taken root in our society,” Osigwe said.
