Police dismiss fear of unrest, assure safety on 3rd Mainland Bridge

The Lagos State Police Command has reassured residents and motorists of their safety following reports of a possible plan by some youths to cause disruptions on the Third Mainland Bridge.

In a statement released on Monday, October 27, 2025, the Command’s spokesperson, SP Abimbola Adebisi, confirmed that the police were aware of the circulating reports about a planned disturbance around the Oworonshoki end of the bridge. He noted that proactive measures had already been taken to prevent any breakdown of law and order.

“The Command wishes to assure the public that adequate security measures have been put in place to maintain law and order across the state,” Adebisi said.

He added that officers have been strategically deployed to ensure the safety of commuters and to prevent any form of obstruction or unrest. Residents were also urged to go about their daily activities without fear while cooperating with law enforcement officers on duty.
