The Kwara State Police Command has successfully rescued three people who were kidnapped in Igbonla community, Irepodun Local Government Area, after a prompt and coordinated response by police officers and local security teams.
The victims — Fatima Wasiu, her son Kudus Wasiu, and her six-month-old baby — were rescued unharmed after gunmen stormed their home on Sunday, November 2, 2025.
In a statement released by the Command’s spokesperson, SP Adetoun Ejire-Adeyemi, the police said they received a distress call during the attack and immediately mobilized a team of detectives, vigilantes, and local hunters to the area.
“The swift response led to the rescue of the three victims unhurt. Efforts are still ongoing to free the remaining two hostages, identified as Wasiu Salihu and Abdullahi Sefiu, and to bring the kidnappers to justice,” the statement read.
The Commissioner of Police, CP Adekimi Ojo, commended the officers and local security groups for their quick and coordinated action. He assured residents that the Command remains committed to tackling kidnapping, banditry, and other violent crimes in the state.
He also urged the public to continue sharing useful information that could help security agencies maintain peace and safety across communities.
“The Command encourages citizens to keep up timely intelligence reporting and cooperation with security personnel in line with the vision of the Inspector-General of Police, IGP Kayode Egbetokun,” Ejire-Adeyemi added.
