The naira weakened in the parallel market on Monday, sliding to ₦1,465 per dollar compared to ₦1,456 last Friday.
But in the official Nigerian Foreign Exchange Market (NFEM), the currency moved in the opposite direction. It strengthened slightly to ₦1,437.5 per dollar, improving from ₦1,438.5 recorded over the weekend — a modest ₦1 gain.

This mixed performance caused the gap between the official and parallel market rates to widen sharply, rising to ₦27.5 per dollar, up from ₦17.5 last Friday.
