Eight men arrested for phone snatching on the Mile 2 pedestrian bridge in Lagos have been sentenced to six months in prison each.
The Commissioner for the Ministry of Environment and Water Resources, Tokunbo Wahab, confirmed the development in a post on his X handle.
According to Wahab, the suspects were arrested during a morning raid carried out by operatives of the Lagos State Environmental Sanitation Corps (LAGESC).
The convicts were identified as Anthony Osinachi (21), Victor Onuoha (45), Rowland Ede (25), Daniel Chisom (24), Emmanuel Chukwu (35), Ogbonnaya Uchechi (18), Godday Eke (28), and Benjamin G. (30).
They were arraigned before the Magistrate Court in Bolade, Oshodi, where they pleaded guilty to the charges and were sentenced accordingly.
Wahab wrote, “The 8 miscreants arrested earlier today for snatching phones on the pedestrian bridge of Mile 2 Bridge were arraigned before the Magistrate Court sitting at Bolade, Oshodi, pled guilty and were sentenced to 6 months imprisonment.”

He commended the LAGESC operatives for their swift response and urged Lagos residents to stay alert and report criminal activities within their areas.
The arrest comes as the Sanwo-Olu administration continues its zero-tolerance campaign against environmental violations, illegal structures, and criminal hideouts across the state.
