The Lagos State Commissioner of Police, Olohundare Jimoh, has announced increased security deployments to schools, worship centres, and other public areas to prevent any form of security breach across the state.
Jimoh addressed newsmen on Monday at the command headquarters in Ikeja, assuring residents that Lagos remains safe. He added that the heightened security measures would continue throughout the ember months into the New Year.
“We want the general public to know that Lagos is safe and secure. We have made additional deployments to all schools, places of worship, religious centres, and other locations frequently visited by people to ensure everyone is safe. This will continue into the New Year and beyond,” he said.
He also revealed plans to strengthen police tactical squads across all local government areas in the state.
This development comes as parts of the country continue to witness security challenges, including cases of abductions in Kwara, Kebbi, and Niger states.
Jimoh further disclosed that newly employed drivers and car wash attendants were behind a new trend of vehicle thefts in Lagos. During the briefing, he paraded 10 exotic vehicles and confirmed that 56 suspects had been arrested for various offences.

According to him, many stolen vehicles were taken by drivers who had just been hired or by car wash attendants who drove away vehicles entrusted to them.
He urged residents to be more security conscious, warning against leaving car keys with strangers or newly engaged workers.
“We should ensure we don’t leave our car keys at car washes. Simple measures like this can prevent vehicle theft,” he advised.
Recovered items included a Toyota Hilux, Range Rover SUV, Lexus GX460, Toyota Corolla models, a Honda CR-V, and a Boxer Bajaj motorcycle used in a robbery attempt. Weapons such as locally made pistols, a cut-to-size shotgun, cartridges, and a machete were also displayed.
Jimoh assured Lagosians that the police command would sustain its intensified operations into the New Year to maintain safety and public confidence.
