Renowned Islamic Scholar Sheikh Dahiru Bauchi Passes Away

Prominent Islamic scholar and leader of the Tijjaniyya order in Nigeria, Sheikh Dahiru Usman Bauchi, has passed away.

News of his death began circulating early Thursday morning.

A former aide to ex-President Muhammadu Buhari, Bashir Ahmad, confirmed the development in a post on X, expressing grief and praying for the Sheikh’s soul.

“It is with a heavy heart and complete submission to the will of Allah that we receive the news of the passing of our revered leader, Sheikh Dahiru Usman Bauchi,” he wrote, adding, “May Allah forgive his shortcomings, accept his noble deeds and grant him Jannatul Firdaus.”

The scholar’s son, Sayyadi Ali Dahiru Usman Bauchi, also confirmed the loss, saying:

“It is confirmed. Sheikh has returned to his creator. We are all from Allah and to Him we shall return. It is time for Sheikh to rest. We thank Almighty Allah. Sheikh’s life was well spent. Alhamdulillah.”

He noted that he is currently in Madinah and could not yet confirm whether the burial will take place in Abuja or Bauchi.

As of the time of this report, the family and the Bauchi State Government have not issued a formal announcement.
