The Delta State Police Command has arrested a man identified as Lucky Matthew and launched a manhunt for another suspect over the shocking murder of retired Justice Ifeoma Okogwu.
According to a statement released on Sunday in Asaba by the Police Public Relations Officer, SP Bright Edafe, the case was reported after the victim’s brother visited her home and found her dead in the sitting room. Her hands, legs, and mouth had been tied.
Upon receiving the report, officers from ‘A’ Division Asaba rushed to the scene, evacuated the body, and moved it to the mortuary for autopsy.
While one suspect, Lucky Matthew, is now in custody, the main suspect, identified as Godwin Vanem, is currently on the run.
Following the directive of the Commissioner of Police, CP Olufemi Abaniwonda, the case has been transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department (Homicide Section) for deeper investigation.

Separate Development: Police Rescue Seven Boys Held by Internet Fraud Syndicate
In another operation, the Command rescued seven young boys who were allegedly held captive by an internet fraud group known as Hustlers Kingdom (HK) in Warri.
SP Edafe, in a video shared on X, revealed that the boys were lured into the apartment under false pretences. When they failed to secure paying clients, gang members reportedly flogged them with koboko.
Operatives of the Quick Response Squad (QRS) stormed the apartment, rescued the victims, and arrested two self-styled “chairmen” of the group.
The police say investigations are ongoing in both cases.
