Barau Jibrin Calls for Stronger Security After Fresh Attacks in Kano

Deputy Senate President Barau Jibrin has urged security agencies to step up operations in Kano State after new bandit attacks hit Tsanyawa and Shanono Local Government Areas.

His appeal follows growing concerns across the North, where communities in Kaduna, Katsina, Zamfara, and Niger states have continued to suffer repeated assaults from armed groups and fleeing insurgents.

Recently, the military intensified its offensive under President Bola Tinubu’s National Security Emergency Plan, launching coordinated air and ground operations to clear terrorists from forest hideouts.

Reacting to an alleged Saturday night attack in Yankamaye village, Tsanyawa LGA, Barau warned that the movement of criminal elements—many believed to be escaping military pressure in nearby states—must be stopped quickly.

In a statement released in Abuja by his Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, Ismail Mudashir, he condemned the attack and emphasized the need for urgent action.

“This incursion into the area must stop immediately. The security of our people’s lives and property is paramount. No stone will be left unturned in achieving this,” he said.

Barau further encouraged security agencies to maintain the momentum from the ongoing nationwide security emergency and ensure that bandits do not find new safe havens in border communities.
