Church Leader Condemns Kogi Worshippers’ Abduction, Urges Swift Rescue Efforts

The Supreme Head of the Cherubim and Seraphim Unification Church of Nigeria, Emmanuel Alogbo, has strongly condemned the abduction of church members during a service in Ejiba, Yagba West LGA of Kogi State.

The attack, which occurred on November 30, 2025, saw gunmen invade the church mid-service and abduct several worshippers, who remain in captivity.

In a statement signed by the church’s spokesperson, Omololu Olubode, Alogbo described the incident as a dangerous threat to freedom of worship and a worrying reflection of the security challenges in the state.

He said, “The attack and abduction of innocent worshippers mid-service is troubling and a dangerous sign for free worship in Nigeria. Turning places of worship into hunting grounds for terrorists is deeply disturbing.”

Alogbo noted ongoing efforts by the Federal Government and security agencies to curb kidnapping but urged the Kogi State Governor, Usman Ododo, to intensify rescue operations.

“We call on Governor Usman Ododo to act decisively. The safety of our members depends on the urgency of the government’s response,” he said.

He also appealed to Nigerians and the international community to support efforts aimed at ending attacks on worship centres.

The abduction adds to a series of recent security breaches reported across Kogi State and other parts of the country.
