Lagos APC Says Tinubu’s Ambassadorial Nominees Signal Bold New Era in Nigeria’s Foreign Policy

The Lagos State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) says President Bola Tinubu’s newly submitted list of ambassadorial nominees represents a major step toward repositioning Nigeria on the global stage.

In a statement issued on Saturday, the party’s spokesperson, Seye Oladejo, said the nominations reflect a deliberate shift toward a more confident and assertive foreign policy.

According to him, the President carefully selected seasoned and patriotic individuals capable of promoting and defending Nigeria’s interests internationally.

“With this list, Nigeria is moving from national renewal to global resonance,” Oladejo said, describing the nominees as a blend of experience, loyalty, and diplomatic maturity.

He added that the move signals the end of what he termed a timid approach to international relations.

“The era of timid foreign policy is over. The era of strategic, assertive diplomacy has begun,” he said.

Oladejo emphasized that once confirmed by the Senate, the ambassadors would operate as active partners in advancing national objectives, not passive observers in their host countries.

He noted that recent reforms in security, the economy, and governance have created a solid foundation for Nigeria to re-engage the world with greater confidence.

“President Tinubu has rebuilt the foundation. Now Nigeria is ready to assert itself with dignity and authority,” he said.

He also highlighted Nigeria’s plans to strengthen its leadership role in ECOWAS and the African Union, while prioritizing economic diplomacy, security partnerships, and the protection of Nigerians living abroad.

“Nigeria will no longer whisper at global tables. We will speak with purpose,” Oladejo added.

He expressed strong confidence that the new envoys, once deployed, would boost Nigeria’s international reputation and help shape global outcomes in a rapidly evolving world.

President Tinubu forwarded the list of ambassadorial nominees to the Senate earlier this week for screening and confirmation.
