Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola has said the club must be prepared for his eventual departure, stressing that no coach stays forever, even as he remains happy at the club.
Guardiola, who signed a contract extension in November 2024 that runs until the end of the 2026–27 season, said there have been no talks about leaving early. However, he believes City should always plan for the future.
Speaking to BBC Sport, the 54-year-old said he is often asked about his future and admitted that his time at the club will end at some point. “Sooner or later, I will quit Manchester City. I have 18 months, and I am very happy. The club and I are well connected,” he said.
He added that while there are no current discussions about his exit, the club must be ready for all possibilities, just as it would plan for changes involving players or executives.
