Guardiola Hails Maresca After Chelsea Exit

Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola has spoken highly of Enzo Maresca following the Italian coach’s departure from Chelsea, describing him as both an outstanding manager and a great person.

Speaking ahead of City’s Premier League meeting with Chelsea, Guardiola said the London club had lost someone valuable. “From my point of view, he is an incredible coach and an incredible person,” he said, while stressing that Maresca’s exit was a decision taken by Chelsea’s leadership.

Maresca officially left Chelsea on New Year’s Day, with the club turning to Under-21 head coach Calum McFarlane as interim manager. McFarlane will take charge of the team for Sunday’s trip to the Etihad Stadium.

Guardiola’s comments underline the respect Maresca enjoys within the Premier League, even after his brief spell at Stamford Bridge came to an abrupt end.

Chelsea now head into a tough encounter against the reigning champions under temporary leadership, as the club continues its search for a permanent managerial replacement.
