Super Eagles forward Victor Boniface has revealed that he has undergone surgery after suffering a knee contusion, opening up about the emotional toll the injury has taken on him.
In a series of posts shared on his official X (formerly Twitter) account on Saturday, the Nigerian international admitted that he has been putting on a “fake smile” for almost a year while dealing with personal and professional challenges. Despite this, he expressed gratitude to God, saying only God understands the reasons behind what he has been going through.
“Been putting fake smile for almost a year. But God know why all this is happening. Grateful to God,” Boniface wrote.

In another update, the striker confirmed that the surgery was successful and encouraged people not to allow difficult situations push them into depression.
“Bbl done and dusted. Omo if he reach your turn make depression wound you,” he added in a light-hearted but reflective tone.
Boniface also thanked his fans and well-wishers for their support and messages during the period.
The injury struggles come after a difficult 2025 for the forward, who missed the Africa Cup of Nations after suffering a serious abductor injury on the eve of the tournament in Côte d’Ivoire.
