The Delta State Police Command has successfully disrupted a planned kidnapping and recovered dangerous weapons following a covert operation by its Special Assignment Team.
According to a statement released on Tuesday by the Police Public Relations Officer, Bright Edafe, the operation was carried out after credible intelligence revealed the presence of suspected kidnappers along a bush path in the Upper Agbarho area of the state.
Acting on the tip-off, operatives of the CP Special Assignment Team moved into the area at about 9:35 p.m. on January 11, 2026. The operation was led by Julius Robinson and carried out in collaboration with local vigilante members.
The police said the suspects, believed to be about six in number, opened fire on sighting the operatives. The officers responded with superior firepower, forcing the suspects to flee into the surrounding bush with suspected gunshot injuries.
During a search of the area, the suspects were found to have abandoned weapons and other items. Recovered exhibits include an FNC rifle loaded with a live round of ammunition and a pump-action gun containing 32 live cartridges.
