Presidency Confirms Tinubu Is Fit, Visit to Türkiye Continues as Planned

The Presidency has dismissed concerns about President Bola Tinubu’s health, assuring Nigerians that he is hale, hearty, and fully engaged in his ongoing state visit to Türkiye.

The clarification was given on Tuesday by the Special Adviser to the President on Media and Public Communication, Sunday Dare, in a post shared on his verified X account. According to Dare, the President moved seamlessly from the ceremonial reception in Ankara to his scheduled bilateral engagements with Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan and other top government officials.

“President Tinubu, after a stately welcome ceremony in Ankara, proceeded to scheduled bilateral meetings with the President of Türkiye and other senior government officials,” Dare stated.

He explained that the meetings are focused on strengthening diplomatic ties between both countries and expanding cooperation in key sectors such as defence and security, trade and investment, energy, and overall economic development.

Dare added that the smooth conduct of the visit highlights the growing relationship between Nigeria and Türkiye and reflects Nigeria’s renewed diplomatic push under President Tinubu’s administration.

Also reacting to public enquiries, the President’s Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, addressed reports surrounding a brief incident during the reception ceremony.

Onanuga explained that the President momentarily lost his balance after stepping on a metal object on the floor.

“The President stepped on a metal on the floor, which made him lose his balance,” he said, adding that the incident was insignificant.

“It was a mere stumble, thank God, not a fall,” Onanuga noted, urging the public to ignore attempts to sensationalise the moment.

The Presidency reiterated that President Tinubu remains in good health and is proceeding with all official activities as scheduled.
