Ndidi recently led Nigeria to a third-place finish at the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations in Morocco, where he also scored his first international goal. During the tournament, he revealed the inspiration behind his goal celebration against Tunisia, saying it was a tribute to his late father and his admiration for former Super Eagles captain, Kanu Nwankwo.

“The celebration came from my dad because he was always talking about Kanu Nwankwo,” Ndidi said at the time.

“So I just thought about my dad and decided to do it for him.”

Born and raised in Lagos, Ndidi has often spoken fondly about growing up with his father in the barracks, describing him as a major influence in his life and football journey.
