The Imo State Police Command has dismissed three of its operatives over allegations of kidnapping, armed robbery, and car snatching.
The officers identified as ex-Sgt Gift Ekwueme, ex-Sgt Ikechukwu Eto, and ex-Cpr Divine Okwuaru are currently being held at the Imo State Police Headquarters and are expected to be charged to court soon.
Confirming the development on Friday, the command’s spokesperson, DSP Henry Okoye, said the dismissed officers were found guilty after undergoing an orderly room trial.
According to him, the police acted immediately after receiving a complaint, leading to the arrest and detention of the suspects before disciplinary action was taken.

Okoye explained that the three men were accused of kidnapping and extorting ₦1.7 million from a man identified as Obinna Egbu in Owerri on February 8, 2026. They allegedly carried out the act at gunpoint while posing as operatives of the Anti-Kidnapping Unit, alongside a civilian driver named Alex Chukwu.
The police spokesperson said their dismissal was approved by the Imo State Commissioner of Police, Audu Garba Bosso, who has vowed to clamp down on corruption and misconduct within the command.
He added that the commissioner has warned that any officer found guilty of wrongdoing would be dealt with decisively.
The incident has reportedly caused serious tension and concern within the police command.
