A female pedestrian and member of the Mountain of Fire and Miracles Ministries (MFM) has been confirmed dead after she was knocked down by a Mercedes-Benz C-300 driver in a hit-and-run incident on Saturday at the NYSC Bus Stop in the Igando area of Lagos State.
The victim was reportedly on her way to a church service at the MFM Church in Igando when the accident happened.
The Lagos State Traffic Management Authority (LASTMA) confirmed the incident, stating that its officers responded quickly after receiving distress alerts.
According to the agency, its personnel immediately secured the scene to prevent further accidents and ensure the safety of other road users.
LASTMA also revealed that the driver of the Mercedes-Benz fled immediately after the collision, describing the act as irresponsible and a serious violation of traffic laws.

The agency said the vehicle was later removed from the road with the help of officers from the Nigeria Police Force, Igando Division, while investigations have commenced to track down and arrest the fleeing driver.
Reacting to the tragedy, the General Manager of LASTMA, Mr Olajide Bakare-Oki, expressed condolences to the victim’s family and the MFM Church community.
He urged motorists to be more cautious, obey speed limits, and respect pedestrian rights to prevent avoidable loss of lives.
