The Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC) says it has tracked 35 Federal Government projects valued at N4.61 billion in Zamfara State as part of efforts to ensure transparency and value for money.

Speaking at a news briefing in Gusau on Saturday, the team leader of the exercise, Dr. Murtala Bankano, said the tracking was carried out under the Constituency and Executive Project Tracking Initiative.

According to him, the initiative was developed by the commission in collaboration with the Budget Office of the Federation. Other partners involved in the process include the Nigerian Institute of Quantity Surveyors, members of the media, and other relevant stakeholders to ensure effective implementation of Federal Government projects nationwide.

Bankano explained that the phase eight tracking exercise in Zamfara covered six key sectors: education, health, water resources, power, empowerment, and agriculture.

He noted that the projects were at different stages of completion and urged contractors handling them to return to site and address any outstanding issues.

“Although the exercise is awaiting the report of the Nigerian Institute of Quantity Surveyors to determine the specific status of the projects in question, we are directing all contractors with any issues to return to site immediately,” he said.

Bankano stressed that the ICPC’s objective under the initiative is to ensure that constituency and executive projects are executed according to approved standards and deliver real benefits to communities.
