INEC Promotes 2,339 Staff in 2025 Senior Staff Exercise

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has approved the promotion of 2,339 staff members as part of its 2025 Senior Staff Promotion Exercise, reaffirming its commitment to career development and institutional stability.

The decision was reached at the Commission’s meeting held on Thursday, February 26, 2026, according to a statement issued on Tuesday in Abuja by Mrs. Victoria Eta-Messi.

At the Directorate level, covering Grade Levels 16–17, 45 Deputy Directors were elevated to the rank of Directors. Of these, 18 will remain in active service, while 27 are expected to retire shortly after their promotion in line with public service regulations.

In the GL 15–16 category, 91 Assistant Directors were promoted to Deputy Directors. Similarly, 82 Chief Officers on GL 14–15 advanced to the position of Assistant Directors.

The exercise also covered 2,121 intermediate officers on Grade Levels 07–13 across various departments within the Commission.

According to INEC, the promotions were conducted in line with established guidelines and existing public service rules. The Commission noted that the exercise reflects its determination to reward merit, dedication, and years of service, while strengthening leadership capacity across its structures ahead of upcoming electoral activities.

INEC congratulated the newly promoted officers and urged them to remain committed to professionalism, integrity, and impartiality in the discharge of their duties.
