The Sokoto State Police Command has unveiled a comprehensive security strategy to ensure a peaceful and safe Eid-el-Fitr celebration across the state. The move comes as millions of Muslims prepare to mark the end of Ramadan with prayers, gatherings, and festivities.
In a statement on Wednesday, Police Public Relations Officer DSP Ahmad Rufa’i said the Commissioner of Police, Ahmed Musa, extended warm felicitations to Muslim faithful and all residents, urging celebrations to be conducted responsibly and in accordance with the law.
“The Sokoto State Police Command felicitates with Muslim faithfuls and all residents on the occasion of Eid-el-Fitr. We have put in place adequate security measures to ensure a peaceful and joyous celebration,” the statement read.
To reinforce security, Area Commanders, Divisional Police Officers (DPOs), and Tactical Commanders have been directed to intensify patrols and carry out intelligence-led operations across the state. Personnel have been deployed to key locations to provide visible policing before, during, and after the Sallah festivities.

The police highlighted particular attention to common festive crimes such as phone snatching, pickpocketing, and traffic violations. Parents and guardians were also urged to monitor their children and wards to prevent reckless behaviour that could disrupt public peace.
“The public is encouraged to remain law-abiding and report any suspicious activity to the nearest police station or through the Command Control line: 08026451719,” Rufa’i added.
The command stressed its collaboration with other security agencies, community leaders, and stakeholders to maintain law and order throughout the celebration, reassuring residents of their commitment to safeguarding lives and property during the festivities.
