A presidential aspirant of the Young Progressives Party, Olajide Filani, has congratulated Muslim faithful across Nigeria on the occasion of Eid-el-Fitr, urging citizens to embrace unity, peace, and compassion.
In a statement on Friday, Filani described Eid-el-Fitr as a season that reflects sacrifice, discipline, love, and devotion, stressing that these values are critical for Nigeria at a time of national challenges.
He called on Nigerians to uphold the lessons of Ramadan by promoting tolerance and peaceful coexistence, noting that the country urgently needs a shared commitment to building a stable and harmonious society.
“During this celebration, I congratulate our Muslim brothers and sisters for completing Ramadan. The values of patience, sacrifice, and devotion are exactly what Nigeria needs at this critical time,” he said.
Filani added that the nation’s challenges require sincere leadership, prayers, and collective responsibility, while encouraging citizens to remain hopeful for a better future. He also urged political leaders and religious organisations to use the period for reflection and renewed dedication to justice, equity, and national development.
Meanwhile, the Olukere of Odo Oja Ikere Ekiti, Oba Ayodele Obasoyin, also extended his greetings to Muslims in Ekiti State and beyond, calling for prayers ahead of the state’s governorship election scheduled for June 20, 2026.

The monarch emphasised the importance of peace for development, urging Nigerians across religious and ethnic lines to work together in tackling economic and security challenges.
Describing Eid-el-Fitr as a time for gratitude, compassion, and unity, Obasoyin encouraged Muslims to continue living by the virtues of patience, self-discipline, and mutual understanding.
He also commended the Muslim community for their role in promoting harmony and development, expressing hope that the celebration would inspire renewed commitment to national progress and peaceful coexistence.
