Vice President Kashim Shettima on Monday paid a condolence visit to former Kaduna State Governor, Nasir El-Rufai, at his Abuja residence following the death of his mother, Hajiya Umma El-Rufai.
The visit was disclosed in a statement shared by Shettima’s media aide, Stanley Nkowcha, on his official X handle.
During the visit, the Vice President described the late matriarch as a woman of great virtue and a strong pillar for her family. He also offered prayers for the peaceful repose of her soul and for the family to find strength during the mourning period.
According to the statement, Hajiya Umma El-Rufai passed away in Cairo, Egypt, on Friday after a brief illness at an advanced age. She was laid to rest on Sunday following funeral prayers.

Her death was earlier announced by her grandson, Bello El-Rufai, who paid tribute to her life and called for prayers on her behalf.
Following her passing, the Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission granted temporary bail to El-Rufai to allow him participate in the burial rites of his late mother.
