The Federal Government has announced Friday, April 3, and Monday, April 6, 2026, as public holidays to mark this year’s Easter celebration.
April 3 will be observed as Good Friday, while April 6 has been set aside as Easter Monday.
The Minister of Interior, Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, made the announcement in a statement on Wednesday, extending his congratulations to Christians in Nigeria and across the diaspora.
He urged Nigerians to reflect on the values associated with the Easter season, including selflessness, forgiveness, patience, and love, as demonstrated in the life and teachings of Jesus Christ.
The minister also called for unity among citizens, stressing the importance of peaceful coexistence and national harmony.

According to him, Easter serves as a reminder of the shared values that bind Nigerians together, encouraging everyone to remain committed to building a more united and progressive country.
Tunji-Ojo further reiterated the Federal Government’s commitment to policies aimed at driving national development, economic growth, and shared prosperity.
He concluded by wishing Christians a peaceful and joyful Easter celebration.
