Lagos announces traffic diversions for Wednesday, Thursday project unveiling

The Lagos State Government has announced temporary road closures in parts of the city ahead of the commissioning of major infrastructure projects scheduled for Wednesday and Thursday.

The Commissioner for Transportation, Oluwaseun Osiyemi, explained that the move is to ensure safety and allow the events to go smoothly. He advised motorists to plan ahead and avoid affected routes to reduce traffic delays.

According to him, the Opebi-Mende Link Bridge will be commissioned on Wednesday, April 8, between 9:00 a.m. and 1:00 p.m. This will affect movement around Opebi, Allen, Ikeja, and Ojota. Drivers using those routes are encouraged to find alternative roads during that period.

On Thursday, April 9, two separate events will also impact traffic. The first, scheduled between 9:00 a.m. and 1:00 p.m., is the commissioning of the Tolu Schools Complex, which will affect areas like Olodi Apapa and Ajegunle. Motorists in those locations are advised to adjust their plans and allow extra travel time.

Later in the day, from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m., another event will take place around Victoria Island, including the Eko Hotel axis. Traffic is expected to be heavier in that area, so road users are advised to avoid the route or prepare for delays.

Traffic officials, including personnel from the Lagos State Traffic Management Authority (LASTMA), will be on ground to manage the situation and guide motorists.

Residents are urged to cooperate with traffic officials and follow all instructions to ensure smoother movement during the period.
