Osimhen Set to Return for Galatasaray–Fenerbahçe Derby After Injury Layoff

Victor Osimhen is expected to be fully fit in time for Galatasaray’s crucial Super Lig clash against Fenerbahçe later this month, following his return to team training.

The Nigerian striker has been sidelined with an arm injury sustained during a UEFA Champions League play-off match against Liverpool before the international break. However, he is now on the road to recovery and gradually regaining full fitness.

Osimhen recently underwent surgery and resumed training on Saturday, participating in non-contact sessions with the squad. Despite this progress, he was not included in the team for their recent fixture against Kocaelispor.

According to sources close to the player, he is expected to be fully ready for the highly anticipated Istanbul derby scheduled for April 26. There is also a slim chance he could make an earlier return in matches against Gençlerbirliği, either in the league or in a Turkish Cup quarter-final tie.

The club confirmed his progress, noting that he trained with the team during part of the session before continuing his recovery programme under the supervision of physiotherapists.

With Galatasaray currently leading the Super Lig title race, fans are optimistic about Osimhen’s return, especially ahead of the decisive clash with rivals Fenerbahçe.

Since joining the Turkish giants in a €75 million move, the striker has been in impressive form, scoring 12 league goals and adding seven more in European competitions this season.
