The Kano State Police Command has arrested no fewer than 193 suspects during a series of coordinated raids targeting criminal hideouts and black spots across the state.
The operation, which took place between April 10 and 12, 2026, was confirmed by the Commissioner of Police, Ibrahim Bakori, in a statement issued by the command’s spokesperson, Haruna Abdullahi.
According to the statement, the raids were carried out in line with directives from the Inspector-General of Police, Olatunji Rilwan Disu, aimed at strengthening surveillance, increasing patrol visibility, and dismantling criminal networks across the state.
The exercise involved all 11 area commanders in Kano, who led simultaneous operations across identified hotspots. The raids resulted in the arrest of suspects and the recovery of various dangerous weapons and illicit substances.

Items recovered include 51 cutlasses, 15 knives, 41 clubs, and 72 rubber solutions. Officers also seized drugs such as Pregabalin and Exol tablets, along with a significant quantity of dried leaves suspected to be cannabis.
Police authorities said investigations are ongoing, with efforts continuing to ensure the safety and security of residents through sustained patrols and monitoring of high-risk areas.
Bakori commended the officers involved for their professionalism and dedication, while also appreciating members of the public for providing useful information that aided the success of the operation.
The command reaffirmed its commitment to tackling crime and maintaining peace in Kano State, urging residents to remain vigilant and report suspicious activities to security agencies for prompt response.
