Tinubu Tasks Orji Kalu with APC Coordination in Abia

Former Abia State Governor and serving senator, Orji Uzor Kalu, has revealed that President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has directed him to coordinate the activities of the All Progressives Congress in Abia State.

Kalu, who represents Abia North Senatorial District and chairs the Senate Committee on the South East Development Commission, made this known on Monday, linking the assignment to a recent meeting with the President at the Presidential Villa in Abuja.

Sharing the update via his official Facebook page, the former Senate Chief Whip expressed appreciation for the responsibility, describing it as a vote of confidence at a critical time in the region’s political landscape.

“I sincerely thank President Tinubu for the confidence reposed in me and the directive to coordinate party activities in Abia State,” he said.

The move comes as the APC intensifies efforts to strengthen its presence in Abia and the wider South-East, where it has traditionally faced stiff opposition.

Kalu said his focus would be on uniting party members, engaging stakeholders, and positioning the party for future electoral success.

“I am committed to working with all stakeholders to ensure the APC produces candidates who are widely accepted, united in purpose, and capable of securing victory for the party,” he stated.

He added that the goal is not only to support the President’s re-election bid but also to advance the development of Abia State.

While the Presidency has yet to officially confirm the assignment, Kalu’s role is seen as part of a broader strategy by the ruling party to rebuild its structure in the South-East, resolve internal divisions, and strengthen grassroots mobilisation ahead of the 2027 elections.
