The Abia State Police Command has arrested two suspects linked to alleged armed robbery, cult-related activities, and vandalisation of government property in different parts of the state.
The arrests were confirmed in a statement issued on Saturday by the Police Public Relations Officer, Maureen Chioma Chinaka, on behalf of the Commissioner of Police, Danladi Isa.
According to the police, the suspects were identified as 21-year-old Michael Kalu from Afikpo North Local Government Area of Ebonyi State and 23-year-old Obinna Chimezie from Aba, Abia State.
The command disclosed that operatives of the Violent Crime Response Unit acted on intelligence reports and arrested Kalu on May 6, 2026, at Amuma Ohafia in Abia State, where he resides.

Police said weapons recovered from him included an English-made pistol and a locally fabricated pistol. He is also suspected to be involved in cult activities and armed robbery operations.
In a separate operation, officers attached to the Osisioma Divisional Police Headquarters reportedly arrested Chimezie while allegedly vandalising a gas pipeline connected to Geometric Power along the Enugu-Port Harcourt Expressway.
The police added that a toy shotgun was recovered from the suspect, while a tent allegedly being used for drug-related activities at the scene was destroyed.
The command said both suspects remain in police custody as investigations continue at the State Criminal Investigation Department.
Police authorities also assured residents of their commitment to protecting lives and property across the state, while urging members of the public to provide useful information that could assist security agencies in tackling crime.
