Tinubu Urges Nigerians To Embrace Love, Unity During Eid-el-Kabir Celebration

President Bola Tinubu has urged Nigerians to promote love, tolerance and unity as Muslims across the country celebrate Eid-el-Kabir.

The President made the call on Wednesday shortly after observing the Eid prayers at the Dodan Barracks prayer ground in Lagos.

Tinubu expressed gratitude to Almighty Allah for preserving the lives of Nigerians to witness another Eid-el-Kabir celebration and encouraged citizens to reflect on the lessons of the season.

“We thank Almighty Allah who has kept us alive to witness another Eid-el-Kabir celebration. We must learn from the lessons of this season by showing love to one another. No discrimination, no ethnicity and no hatred,” he said.

The President urged Nigerians to remain compassionate and generous, especially towards the less privileged, noting that the spirit of Eid-el-Kabir is rooted in sacrifice, obedience and humanity.

“We should continue to share love and be generous to one another in a way that reflects the values of our country and our shared humanity,” Tinubu added.

He also stressed the need for tolerance, respect for the rule of law and obedience to the will of Allah, saying these values are essential for peaceful coexistence and national development.

“It is important that we remain tolerant and obedient to the wishes of Allah and the rule of law that guides our society,” he stated.

Speaking on the significance of sacrifice during Eid-el-Kabir, Tinubu said the celebration serves as a reminder of the value of human life, referencing the story of Prophet Ibrahim.

“The sacrifice we are talking about teaches us the value of life. A child was replaced with an animal, and that shows how sacred human life is,” the President said.

Tinubu also condemned acts of violence and banditry, insisting that no religion supports the taking of innocent lives.

“Nowhere in the holy teachings does it say people should engage in banditry or kill others,” he said.

The President noted that Nigeria’s strength lies in its diversity and called on citizens not to allow ethnic, religious or political differences divide the country.

He urged Nigerians to continue supporting one another and work towards peace, progress and national unity.

In his sermon, the Grand Chief Imam of Lagos State, Sheikh Sulaimon Abou-Nolla, called on Muslims to fear Allah and uphold the values of sacrifice, generosity and unity.

The cleric also prayed for Tinubu’s good health and wisdom and commended the sacrifices of past leaders who contributed to building a united Nigeria.
