Kogi Police Train 565 Constables on Weapon Handling, Marksmanship

The Kogi State Police Command has trained 565 newly recruited constables on weapon handling and marksmanship as part of efforts to strengthen operational efficiency and improve public safety across the state.

The intensive training programme, which focused on professionalism, discipline, and effective firearm use, is part of ongoing reforms within the Nigeria Police Force aimed at enhancing service delivery and tackling modern security challenges.

According to a statement issued on Monday by the Command’s spokesperson, ASP Saliu Afusat, the training commenced on April 13, 2026, and lasted for two months.

She said the exercise was in line with the strategic vision of the Inspector-General of Police, IGP Olatunji Rilwan Disu, designed to build the capacity of officers to respond more effectively to security threats.

Speaking at the Passing-Out Parade held at the Police Command Headquarters in Lokoja, the Commissioner of Police, CP Naziru Bello Kankarofi, commended the constables for their discipline, commitment, and dedication throughout the training period.
