The younger sister of former Minister of Power and All Progressives Congress (APC) governorship hopeful in Oyo State, Adebayo Adelabu, has been abducted alongside her twin sons in Ibadan.
The victims, identified as Mrs. Olaide Busayo Adegoke John-Paul and her 12-year-old twin boys, Peter and Paul, were reportedly kidnapped by armed men on Wednesday morning in the Challenge area of Ibadan South-West Local Government Area.
According to a statement issued by Adelabu’s media aide, Femi Awogboro, the incident occurred around 7:30 a.m. while Mrs. John-Paul was taking her children to school.
The statement explained that the gunmen intercepted her vehicle and forcefully whisked away both the mother and her children.
Mrs. John-Paul, 43, is the youngest of five children in the Adelabu family. She previously worked with the Central Bank of Nigeria and First Bank Pension Custodian before retiring last year. Following her retirement, she relocated to Ibadan with her children while preparing to join her husband, who resides in the United States.
The family disclosed that security agencies were immediately notified after the incident and have already launched investigations and rescue operations.
“We are pleased to confirm that security operatives have swung into action and preliminary investigations have commenced. Efforts are ongoing to ensure the safe rescue of the victims and the arrest of those responsible for this crime,” the statement said.
