Afrobeats star David Adeleke, popularly known as Davido, has revealed plans to expand his career into the film industry, with intentions to produce movies and eventually take on acting roles.
The award-winning singer disclosed this during an interview with Vibe Q on Thursday, where he spoke about his creative ambitions beyond music and his desire to explore new forms of storytelling.
Davido explained that creativity is constantly evolving and that artists must continue to innovate in order to remain relevant, comparing the growth of music to the yearly advancement of technology.
“Music evolves. Just like technology, Apple every year, they’re bringing out a new iPhone. That’s the same way I look at music. There’s always a new sound, there’s always a new creative idea, there’s always a new way to tell your story,” he said.
The singer revealed that he has already begun making moves in the movie industry, disclosing that he is serving as executive producer on two film projects this year in partnership with popular music video director Dammy Twitch.
He also announced plans for a major documentary project, describing it as a significant production that will showcase another side of his journey.
Davido said that although music remains his primary passion, he is excited about the opportunity to tell stories through film.

“I want to get into movies. I want to start acting soon. I have invested in two movies already as an executive producer. I also have a documentary coming. It is very, very big. And yeah, I do want to act at some point in the future,” he said.
The singer, who remains one of Africa’s most successful music artistes with several international collaborations and hit songs, has continued to expand his influence beyond entertainment.
Over the years, Davido has ventured into various businesses, including fashion, hospitality and other entertainment-related investments, while also supporting the growth of Nigeria’s creative industry.
His planned move into acting and filmmaking marks another step in his effort to build a wider entertainment legacy beyond music.
