Abia Governor Awards Scholarships to Fallen Police Officers’ Children

In response to the tragic killing of three policemen in Aba, Governor Alex Otti of Abia State has awarded scholarships to university level for the children of the deceased officers. This gesture aims to support the families during this difficult time. The policemen were ambushed at Opobo Junction while on a routine stop-and-search operation, leaving two other officers critically wounded.

The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Abia, led by Rt. Hon. Allwell Asiforo, expressed shock at the incident and urged the governor to enhance the state’s security measures. Governor Otti, during visits to the bereaved families, assured them of the government’s support and emphasized the commitment to apprehend those responsible for the attack.

In a press briefing, Governor Otti expressed condolences to the victims' families and reassured the public of ongoing efforts to improve security. He emphasized that the state would not relent in its fight against crime and called on citizens to remain calm, encouraging them to continue their daily activities without fear.

Governor Otti, accompanied by senior state officials, reiterated his determination to safeguard Abia and pursue justice for the slain officers. He hinted at possible involvement of the state's adversaries but stressed the importance of thorough investigations to bring the culprits to justice.
