Achievers University Expels Over 15 Students for Indiscipline, Warns Against Misuse of Social Media

Achievers University, Owo, Ondo State, has announced the expulsion of no fewer than 15 female students over acts of indiscipline that violated the institution’s code of conduct.

The affected students were said to have been involved in the production of explicit videos, an act the university described as a serious breach of its rules and values.

The Pro-Chancellor and Chairman of the Governing Council, Prof. Bode Ayorinde, made this known on Friday during the university’s matriculation ceremony, where 936 newly admitted students formally took their matriculation oath.

Addressing the fresh students, Ayorinde warned against behaviours that could jeopardise their academic journey, stressing that the institution maintains a zero-tolerance policy for indiscipline.

“You put your phone in front of you, dance naked and tag Achievers University — I will dismiss you. Use social media for positive things,” he said.

He also cited other cases of disciplinary action taken by the university, including the dismissal of a student who allegedly made statements interpreted as inviting a terrorist group to the campus.

“One of them, who would have graduated, was caught making threats that suggested inviting Boko Haram to Achievers University. We refunded his N2.3 million and dismissed him,” Ayorinde disclosed.

He added that students must use the resources invested in their education wisely, warning against drug abuse, indecent behaviour and other acts capable of derailing their future.

“We have dismissed more than 15 female students for making sex videos. If you want to graduate and rule the world, you won’t engage in such acts. Women are not meant for entertainment; they can rule the world,” he said.

The Pro-Chancellor further revealed that in 2025, the university expelled 17 students for fraudulent practices aimed at securing examination clearance without paying school fees.

He also disclosed that three students had been dismissed for dealing in hard drugs, urging students to report drug-related activities rather than suffer in silence. Fighting, alcohol consumption, bullying and sexual harassment, he noted, are all offences that attract expulsion.

Ayorinde also cautioned parents and guardians against enabling wrongdoing, advising them to encourage their wards to focus on their studies and personal development.

In his address, the Acting Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Amos Aremu, said Achievers University places strong emphasis on discipline, quality assurance and academic integrity.

He told the matriculating students that their admission marked the beginning of a transformative journey.

“Your admission is not just a ticket to higher education; it is an invitation to self-discovery, intellectual growth and societal impact,” Aremu said.

He noted that university life would come with demanding academic work, personal challenges and the need for balance, but stressed that these experiences are meant to build resilience and leadership capacity.

“University life is filled with excitement, discovery and inevitable challenges. These are not punishments; they are preparations. Embrace them, and you will emerge stronger and ready to make an impact,” he added.
