Adamawa Declares 24-Hour Curfew After Fresh Communal Violence

The Governor of Adamawa State, Ahmadu Fintiri, has imposed a 24-hour curfew on Lamurde Local Government Area following a renewed outbreak of communal violence.

In a statement released on Monday and signed by Hussaini Hammangabdo, Press Secretary to the Deputy Governor, the state government directed security agencies to immediately deploy to the affected areas to restore peace and prevent further unrest.

According to the statement, the curfew takes effect immediately as authorities work to contain the situation and protect lives and property.

“The Adamawa State Government has imposed a 24-hour curfew on Lamurde Local Government Area with immediate effect following a renewed communal clash that broke out on Sunday evening,” the statement said.

Security operatives have been instructed to move swiftly into the community to stabilise the area.

The government appealed to residents of Lamurde to remain calm and cooperate with security personnel as efforts continue to restore normalcy and prevent any further escalation.
