Adewole Adebayo, the 2023 presidential candidate of the Social Democratic Party (SDP), has boldly declared that President Bola Tinubu will be defeated in the 2027 elections, claiming that his party will produce the next President of Nigeria.
In a statement made during his appearance on Arise Television’s The Morning Show on Friday, Adebayo expressed unwavering confidence in the SDP’s future political prospects. “Tinubu is going to be removed from power, that one is sure, and there would be an SDP president,” he said.
Adebayo also confirmed his intent to run for the presidency in 2027, asserting that he would be the SDP’s candidate regardless of the political influence of other party defectors. Despite recent high-profile political moves, including the defection of former Kaduna Governor Nasir El-Rufai to the SDP, Adebayo remained resolute.
“I don’t worry about that; everybody who is coming in knows I will run in 2027,” he remarked. “Any coward who will feel threatened by people coming to his party cannot be president.”
Adebayo expressed respect for El-Rufai’s work ethic, calling the former governor a "patriotic Nigerian" and "very effective" in areas where the government has been lacking, while emphasizing that his defection would not shake his own presidential ambitions.
