Ado-Ekiti Magistrate Court Denies Dele Farotimi Bail Over Defamation Charges

Dele Farotimi

A Magistrate Court sitting in Ado-Ekiti has denied bail to human rights activist Dele Farotimi, who faces defamation charges brought against him by Aare Afe Babalola, founder of Afe Babalola University, Ado-Ekiti (ABUAD).

During the hearing on Tuesday, Magistrate Abayomi Adeosun adjourned Farotimi’s bail application to December 20, following an argument from the prosecution. Police counsel Samson Osobu contended that the bail application was irregular and procedurally flawed, rendering it incompetent.

Farotimi's case has attracted public attention due to his role as a prominent activist. The adjournment sets the stage for a critical ruling on his bail application next month.
