Elder statesman and renowned business magnate, Alhaji Aminu Dantata, has generously donated N1.5 billion to victims of the recent floods that devastated parts of Maiduguri, the capital of Borno State. The donation was announced on Tuesday during Dantata's visit to the Government House in Maiduguri, where he extended his condolences to Governor Babagana Zulum and the people affected by the disaster.

Expressing his sorrow over the economic challenges facing the country, Dantata urged elites and political leaders to repent and adopt a God-fearing approach in their leadership. He prayed for peace and prosperity in both Borno State and Nigeria as a whole.

Governor Zulum, in response, expressed deep gratitude for the visit and donation, acknowledging Dantata's act of compassion as a beacon of hope during a time of great loss and hardship. Zulum remarked, “The people of Borno deeply appreciate this show of magnanimity by a 96-year-old to visit us. Let me announce it, Our Baba has donated the sum of N1.5 billion to support the flood victims.”

The contribution by Dantata comes shortly after his nephew, Alhaji Aliko Dangote, made a separate donation of N1 billion to aid the flood victims. These acts of philanthropy highlight the solidarity and compassion of Nigeria's business leaders in times of crisis.
