Álvaro Morata Reveals AC Milan Move Played Role in Split with Wife Alice Campello

Spanish forward Álvaro Morata has opened up about the personal toll his recent transfer to AC Milan has taken, revealing that his move to the Italian club contributed to the end of his marriage with Alice Campello.

Morata, 31, completed a €13 million transfer to Milan just weeks after winning Euro 2024 with Spain. Despite signing a four-year deal at San Siro, the decision to relocate led to significant strain on his marriage. The couple, who wed in Venice in 2017, announced their separation on August 12 via Instagram.

In a candid interview with *De Corazón*, Morata explained that his estranged wife preferred to remain in Spain and was unwilling to relocate with their four children. He also addressed rumors of infidelity, vehemently denying any wrongdoing. “I am devastated, but I swear I never cheated on her. She’s the most important woman in my life. I am tired of people saying I was unfaithful to Alice,” he said.

Despite their separation, Morata emphasized that he and Campello remain committed to co-parenting their four children—twins Alessandro and Leonardo (born 2018), Edoardo (born 2020), and Bella (born 2023). “There are no regrets. We maintain a strong relationship for the sake of our children,” he added.

Campello, in a separate interview with *Marca*, discussed her struggles with post-partum depression following the birth of their fourth child and the difficulties of frequent relocations. She too dismissed rumors of infidelity and expressed ongoing respect and love for Morata, stating, “We love each other infinitely, and nothing will change that.”

The couple's split, while amicable, underscores the challenges that professional athletes and their families often face, balancing personal lives with the demands of an international career.
